DENA China prepares for Chinese New Year

While the holiday season is drawing to a close in the Netherlands, our colleagues at DENA China are looking forward to the Chinese New Year, which falls on Monday, 23 January, this year. New Year celebrations are very important in this part of the world and require proper planning. Not only that, but the celebrations last for days. That is why our manufacturing company in Wuxi will be closed for two weeks.

Chinese living abroad travel home to China from all over the world in order to enjoy dinner with their family on New Year’s Eve. This results in a huge human migration, also within China. Many people in China work far from home, so far that they cannot go home daily, sometimes even weekly or monthly. So employers often provide living quarters for their employees. DENA China also provides housing for some of its staff.

Renewed energy
Apart from the fact that great distances have to be travelled during this time, people are also busy with all kinds of preparations for the New Year. It is customary to pay off debts, buy new clothes and thoroughly clean your house. It is a fine and worthy tradition: first putting your house in order (literally and figuratively), then celebrating to the full, and, finally, starting the New Year with renewed energy.

Year of the Dragon
For the Chinese, 23 January marks the start of the Year of the Dragon. A year of the dragon is considered to be a year of good fortune and a year of opportunity and success. And that is exactly what we would like to wish our colleagues in Wuxi: Happiness, Health and Success!
